K-1 Fiancé Visa — Bring Your Loved One Home

The K-1 visa allows the fiancé(e) of a U.S. citizen to enter the United States for the sole purpose of getting married. Once inside the U.S., your fiancé must marry you within 90 days and then apply for a green card through adjustment of status.

The K-1 Process — Step by Step

File Form I-129F (Petition for Alien Fiancé)
USCIS approves the petition and forwards it to the National Visa Center
Your fiancé attends an embassy interview in their home country
Your fiancé enters the United States on the K-1 visa
You marry within 90 days of entry
File Form I-485 to adjust status and receive a green card

Critical Requirements

Both parties must be legally free to marry
You must have met in person within the past two years
You must be a U.S. citizen (not a green card holder)
The petitioner must meet minimum income requirements
