Child Status Protection Act (CSPA) — Protecting Children Who Turn 21
When a child turns 21, they age out of the immediate relative category (if they are the child of a U.S. citizen) or out of the F2A category (if they are the child of a permanent resident). The Child Status Protection Act may protect some children by freezing their age for certain purposes.
CSPA applies in specific scenarios and the calculations are complex. Do not assume your child is protected without consulting an attorney.
