Form I-601 is the standard inadmissibility waiver for individuals abroad seeking immigrant or nonimmigrant visas, or those in the U.S. applying for adjustment of status, who are inadmissible for various grounds. It addresses unlawful presence, fraud/misrepresentation, certain criminal convictions, and health-related inadmissibility — typically requiring proof of extreme hardship to qualifying U.S. citizen or LPR family members.
Inadmissible under specific grounds eligible for I-601 (3/10-year bars, certain crimes, fraud, health); qualifying U.S. citizen or LPR family member (spouse, parent, child) who would suffer extreme hardship if waiver denied; demonstrate extreme hardship; and merit favorable discretion.
