Parents Green Card

Sponsor Your Parents for a Green Card

If you are a U.S. citizen and at least 21 years old, you can petition to bring your parents to the United States as permanent residents. Parents of U.S. citizens are classified as immediate relatives, which means there is no annual visa quota and no long waiting period.

Why Parents Get Faster Processing

Unlike siblings or adult children of permanent residents, parents of U.S. citizens benefit from immediate relative status.

This means that as soon as the I-130 is approved and other requirements are met, your parents can proceed directly to adjustment of status or consular processing — without waiting years for a visa number to become available.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. citizen (not a permanent resident)
  • You must be at least 21 years of age
  • You must provide proof of your citizenship and relationship (birth certificate)
  • You must meet the minimum income threshold (Affidavit of Support, Form I-864)
